Gardener's Supply Company

To Sell or not to Sell…

One of my goals is to try to make a small amount of income from my property.  Not so much to make a living, but to maybe get some of my hobbies and interests to sort of pay for themselves.  For example, if the garden could somehow produce (pun intended) enough income to pay for seeds/soil/etc. then what ever I eat from it would basically be free to me except for my time (which I consider to be basically free since I absolutely enjoy gardening).

It appears already that some varieties were perhaps over-planted just a tad (can you say zucchini?).  I can already tell that I will definitely have an overabundance of zucchini, yellow squash, tomato, cucumber, green beans, peppers and eggplant.  So basically everything I planted will produce WAY more than I can personally eat.

What to do with the excess?

Right now the best idea I can come up with is to set up some sort of stand at the end of my driveway.  This would require a way to shelter the veggies from the elements, a table of some sort and a way to collect money on an honor basis.  There have been some theft issues around this area recently so that is worrisome, along with the potential for vandalism.

Probably need to think about this some more…
