Is it just me or has this been a strange growing season? June was wet and everything seemed to grow like weeds. July was unseasonably hot, more like what you would expect in August. And now August so far has been nice and cool like you might expect in September.
This strangeness seems to be impacting the plants too. Tomatoes took forever to ripen for some reason. Beans had terrible germination and then seemed to stagnate for a while. Zucchini and cucumbers seemed to burn out quickly. Peppers are just now starting to ripen up.
It seems from my web travels that gardeners across the nation are experiencing similar odd weather patterns this year. It will be interesting to see how the summer season winds down for everyone.
