On Sunday Sept. 14 Meadowwood Garden experienced 60+ MPH winds for about 8 hours straight that were the aftermath of Hurricane Ike as it moved inland. Power has been out since then and was just restored a few minutes ago.
Damage in the Central Ohio area has been heavier than expected. Some schools are still out today, and many businesses are not open. I spoke to the electric company that services the area and they don’t expect power to be 100% restored until next week!
Meadowwood Garden weathered the storm very well all things considered. Two large trees fell and will need to be removed. The outbuilding had some minor damage to the siding. The biggest inconvenience was not having electric power for three days. It could have been much much worse.
As tough as the past few days have been, they pale in comparison to what people in Texas and surrounding areas continue to go through. The emotional and physical strain they are under must be extreme.
Please consider donating to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund if you are able to do so. I did, because if nothing else I just learned that you never know when something unexpected will impact your life.
